The importance of advertisement is for everyone to see and observe. It is not only the small companies that go for advertisement to increase their business. It has been seen that big business houses invest huge sums of money in advertisements. In fact, the bigger the company, the bigger its advertisement budget. Their success depends a lot on advertisements, on their visibility to the consumer. A wise advertisement is in fact a huge investment for success. Because until even a good product is visible to people, it will not be able to sell. Advertisement is the trick that makes your product known to people so that they buy it and use it-and in the process support your business.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that advertisement is what drives a business. Your business can hope to take off only after it has been made visible to people and that is done only by advertisements. No doubt a good and value based product will be popular because of its utility but alongside having a good product it is also important to have a good advertisement telling of its qualities in the best possible way.
Ironically, sometimes sincerity and hard work alone are not enough. A successful businessman needs to shout out from the rooftop that he possesses these along with a product worth buying. Sometimes the good old recommendations that travel by way of word of mouth are not enough. Sometimes even the neighborhood shops need to advertise and sell their wares by making attractive offers through big billboards, banners and posters. Initial investment in advertisement might not bring you a flock of customers, but it is an investment worth making. Advertisement definitely attracts customers.
A few visible examples of wise advertisement can be seen in India. One of them is the phenomenal success of telecom industry. Various public and private sector telecom companies work overtime to produce catchy advertisements that keep the customers loyal to make the former a success. Unique advertisements do result in new customers. Therefore, like Reliance India, a company should be ready to pump in great sums of money in order to make advertisements that reach out to common people.
The perpetual wars emanating from the competition between two giant cola companies force these two companies to come up with a better and more innovative advertisement. Their mutual fight in fact boosts the business of both.
Public memory is reinforced only by constant hammering of the name and look of the product in their minds. Aggressive advertisements by multinational companies works so well that people tend to forget the availability of local made products. The big business houses work directly on public psyche which tends to remember only what is constantly harped on in front of them. Demand increases as the people tend to recall the name of the product and that happens when the product is strongly advertised. Buying unbranded or local product in fact comes to be associated with a low self esteem and at the same time, buying a branded or a vastly advertised product becomes a status symbol and a mode of show off.
The biggest magic of advertisements is that, they not only cater to demand of products they also create a demand for a product where there is none.
